Brett Godwin is entering his second year as head coach of the Boys’ Varsity soccer program at Denmark High School, and fifth overall as a Varsity head coach. In 2019, he helped Denmark kick off their inaugural season in program history with a 5-11-1 record, including 1-5 in region play. Under Godwin’s leadership, Denmark had 5 players named to the All-Region Team with 2 of those being named to the 1st team. The Danes also had 3 players named to the All-County 2nd Team, including the only freshman to be named on the All-County Team.

Prior to Denmark, Godwin spent three years as the Boys’ Varsity head coach at Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, GA. In his time there, Godwin led the boys to a record of 31-21-2 with three straight playoff appearances, including a region championship in 2016 and a Sweet 16 appearance in 2017. Mill Creek had 15 players named to the All-Region Team with 8 of those being named to the 1st Team, 4 players named to the All-County Team, and 1 player named both County Player of the Year and 2nd Team All-American by Top Drawer Soccer. 11 players who have played under Godwin have earned soccer scholarships to play at the collegiate level.

Outside of the high school game, Godwin coaches club soccer at Atlanta Fire United in their youth academy. Godwin currently holds his USSF “C” License for coaching.

Godwin is a native of Suwanee, Georgia where he graduated from Lambert High School and was a captain on their inaugural soccer teams in 2010 and 2011. He played Division One soccer at Presbyterian College as a 3 year starter, and also played 2 years for the Georgia Revolution in the NPSL. Godwin graduated from Presbyterian College with a major in Business Management and a minor in Athletic Coaching.
